Tamil Nadu and Karnataka

The field trip was conducted in two phases. The first phase covered different parts of Tamilnadu, i.e. Neyveli, Karaikal, Tanjavoor, Salem. The second part phase was conducted in and round areas of Hassan. The field works were focused on ore minerals and associated host rock geology.

In Neyveli we visited mine-1 of Neyveli Lignite Corporation. The focus of the field lay on the various host rock-ore mineral geology, mine functions, and the role of geologist in mines. Next was a visit to ONGC Karaikal asset. Then we visited Tamilnadu Magnesite mines (TANMAG). In our second phase at Hassan we visited a number of mines including Nandihalli clay mines, Tagadur chromite mines, Karya magnesite mines etc.
